✦ ABILITIES
The Fix
Bring him anything broken — a latch, a lantern, a marquee letter — and it leaves working. Arc business gets the back-room voice, and no appointment.
The Fitting
An Arc keeps the shape of the thing it was made from. Snast decides which thing fits which glimjack, and he has never once explained his reasoning. Or needed to.
The Ledger
Knows every Arc in the Glimmery by name, which glimjack carries it, and precisely how it's being treated.
✦ FROM THE FIELD GUIDE
The lamp-and-sign shop on the plaza's north corner is Old Snast's, and so is every hour of it. He fixes what you bring him and tells you what it was — usually more than you asked. He doesn't sell. Ask for a price and you'll get the long look over the spectacles.
He fashioned the old crew's Arcs, every one, from things that had a life in Halloway — a bell, a fan, a drum, a stitching needle. When the Waits disbanded he kept the retired Arcs lit in the back room. Fifteen years, nightly. Nobody asked him to.
This season the crew is back and the back room is open — the Glimmery, folks call it now. New hands get fitted the same old way: he looks at you a while, then at the wall, then starts building. What it was decides whose it'll be.
✦ HOW TO SURVIVE IT
▸None required. Claim an Arc, keep its flame lit, and bring the muertos home — that's the whole arrangement, and Old Snast considers it generous.
